Recap

A large crowd gathered to see an exciting and very well played match for the 2024 CASL Championship. Blue started the game on the offensive with the trio of Tyler Tomlin, Joey Bey and Lucas Hernandez creating numerous early chances, but were unable to get one past Green goalie Jake Rozran. Green’s defense held strong, with MVP Mason Davis leading the back line alongside Casey Capetola and Phillip Gilbert. The first half ended 0-0. The intensity continued to escalate in the 2nd half. Strong defense kept both teams from finding many clear opportunities to score, but with 9 minutes left Green finally broke the deadlock. A clever combination play from Logan Jacobs and Chris Egg-Krings found Matt Duddy in the corner. Duddy sent a cross to Dominic Lupinacci, who slipped it into the net just off Blue keeper Jake Tillett’s hands. Despite the efforts of Cormac Dooley, Zack Anagnos, and Francisc Boghicev, who created chances for Blue as time ticked down, the game was sealed when a penalty shot was awarded to Logan Jacobs with 3 minutes remaining. Jacobs converted, securing a 2-0 victory for Green. Another fiercely competitive CASL championship match was in the books, with the Caruolo brothers adding another to their long list of CASL titles.
