The first playoff saw Goldschmidt’s Black squad coming into the playoffs on a hot streak versus the perennial powerhouse of the Caruolo brothers’ Green. It also featured the Lesage brothers squaring off against one another in the nets. Just after Green put one off the crossbar, Black got on the board first about 10 minutes in with Golden Boot winner Mason Sellig connecting from inside the six after controlling a long punt into the eighteen from his keeper Taylor Lesage. Later in the 1st half, Taylor made an amazing tip save off of a header from inside the six by Mike Kistler. It was back and forth until Green leveled the score with a nice strike to the far post from inside the eighteen from Jack Miller just before half. The second half was even to start until Alex Bojorquez scored off a header to put Green in the lead 2-1. Black then began to pick up the pressure and Mason Sellig was fouled inside the box with 20 minutes left. Sellig was denied the PK with a great save by the goalie of the year Mason LeSage. The air then came out of Black’s attack a bit and Bojorquez added another goal with 13 minutes left and Green prevailed with a 3-1 win to march on to the CASL championship.
